@Home Announces Appointments of John Malone and Ted Rogers to Board of Directors

Shaw Communications Executive to Participate in Board Activities

Mountain View, CA -- April 24, 1997 -- @Home Network today announced the appointment of Dr. John Malone, chairman and CEO of Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) and Ted Rogers, president and CEO of Rogers Communications Inc. to the company's Board of Directors. In addition, Jim Shaw, Jr., president and COO of Shaw Communications, will have participatory rights in future Board activities. The appointments follow the completion of the company's $48 million private placement of preferred stock with such investors as Bay Networks, Motorola Inc., Rogers Cablesystems, Shaw Communications, and Sun Microsystems.

Malone is Chairman and CEO of Tele-Communications, Inc., the nation's largest cable television operator, serving more than 14 million customers in the United States and abroad. The leading-edge company also offers other diversified communications services, including high-speed Internet and telephone service in select areas. Malone's career with TCI began more than 25 years ago, when he was named President and CEO by the Company's late founder, Bob Magness. Malone is currently a director of TCI, and serves on the boards of directors of the Bank of New York, BET Holdings, Inc., TCI Satellite Entertainment, Inc., Home Shopping Network, Inc., and Discovery Communications, Inc. Additionally, Malone is chairman of the board of Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.

President and CEO of Rogers Communications Inc., Ted Rogers has been involved in numerous start-up ventures in broadcasting, cable television and telecommunications. His company, Rogers Cablesystems Limited, Canada's largest cable network operator, provides high quality entertainment, information, and communications services to approximately 2.2 million customers. Its hybrid fiber-coaxial network is ideally suited for delivering interactive products and services that require significant bandwidth. Rogers holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and was awarded an LI.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
